Our Mission

Our Pack's mission is to keep dogs from entering shelters in the first place, by providing free spay/neuter, education, training, post adoption support, rescue, and facilitating the lifelong bond between dogs and their people.

Our mission is to also keep rabbits from entering shelters and educate the public on proper care. We have found similar misunderstandings about this species in regards to care and behavior as companion animals as we've seen with dogs. There has also been an increasing number of abandoned rabbits to shelters and on the streets. For more information on how we evolved to this work click on our Bunny Education & Rescue page above.

Our Vision

Our Pack's vision is that there will be fewer dogs entering shelters and more dogs staying home.

Our Pack's roots are in pit bull rescue and pit bull dog training classes, including work with the Michael Vick case. Leo came from this case and became a therapy dog within weeks of arriving. Our Pack continued to rescue dogs from dog fighting cases for several years and many of those dogs also become therapy dogs. Then we began to see much less discrimination towards pit bulls and less shelters overcrowded by them. We do not see discrimination from partner shelters at this time, in our local areas. We have not stopped advocating for pit bulls, we still provide advocacy through education, training, pet retention programs and rescue. In recent years we began to also include Chihuahuas in our rescue efforts from shelters, along with education and training. Now, we encompass all breeds of dogs in our programs and encourage adoptions of senior dogs.

It's also our vision to see rabbits have better lives through education, rescue and help with spay/neuter.

If you're in need of spay or neuter services and you're in the South Bay Area or Los Banos, California, please write to info@ourpack.org.

If you're thinking of surrendering your dog, please let us help you with training advice or resources to assist you in keeping him or her instead of surrendering. We're here to help.
